  • In addition to Omega-3’s there are other monounsaturated fats that benefit our body. As we all know, saturated & trans fats are not good. However fats from plants are beneficial.

    Research has shown the significant effects of saturated and trans fats on our health; increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease, inflammatory disease, alterations to our microbiome, cancer, etc. Alternatively, plant fats reduce the risk of such health factors.

    High monounsaturated fats could be found in:

    Olive, Peanut, Canola oils

    Avocado

    Almonds, Hazelnut, & Pecans

    Pumpkin & Sesame Seeds

    Peanut Butter

    Corn, Sunflower, Soybean (Polyunsaturated fat)

    Polyunsaturated fat is a dietary fat, additionally healthy for the body, other foods include:

    Walnuts

    Flaxseed

    Fish

    Tip/s

    Oils that are liquid in room temperature but solidify when chilled have polyunsaturated fat (double bonding).
